"post this message about Trinity Sunday"
Subject: Trinity Sunday (May 26)
Greetings everyone,
This coming Sunday is known as "Trinity Sunday." My brother and professor Dr. Reginald Broadnax? asked me a question about Trinity Sunday and its significance in a recent post on Facebook. When the teacher asks a question, it is assumed that he wants the entire class to have the answer, so here it is:
Trinity Sunday is (and should be) celebrated in all churches this Sunday to highlight the most basic belief of the Christian faith, God as Father, Son and Holy Spirit, or the Trinity. It should matter to us to celebrate Trinity Sunday, which always comes one week after celebrating Pentecost Sunday. The origin of this observance came about because the church and its leaders have always known it to be prudent to refute incorrect teaching or doctrine, in this case, the notion of Arius, a 4th century priest condemned as a heretic by the church, that Jesus was NOT the Son of God (this is why I occasionally read the ordination ritual where as an Elder in the church I made the promise to use my office to "with all faithful dilegence to banish and drive away all erroneous and strange doctrine contrary to God's Word").
It is sad and approaching tragic that so many people sit in pews of churches and do not know what they believe - or why. They can shout, dance, high five their neighbor, claim their blessing/miracle/deliverance, etc., but have no ability to defend (in the classic sense of the word, "apologize" for) the faith we hold. Every pastor should take time this coming Sunday to make an attempt to correct this egregious oversight.
"Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering (i.e., patience) and teaching" (2 Timothy 4:2).

The Sharpers are partners in ministry focusing primarily on the underpriviledged with programs such as Welfare to Work, and Celebrate Recover. The over-all purpose is to encourage those less fortunate whenever possible and of course to share Jesus with them. Future plans include plans to provide cooked meals at the church weekly and to serve as a Food Bank Distributor.
